Well another beautiful stitch which Sharon demonstrates in some of her many samples. Crested chain looks to be a very versatile stitch and I assume one that could be used in varying situations.
Sharon suggests beginners first master chain and coral stitch as this stitch is a combination of these.
Neeldenthread has a video for coral stitch and chain stitch for those who would like to see these in action, but she doesn't have crested coral.
There are only a few samples in last year's pool so I assume there were many people busy with other activities at the time. Elizabeth on quieter moments also doesn't appear to have completed this stitch.
Have fun with it and I look forward to seeing your samples.

Oh no! I'm four weeks/stitches behind! How on earth did that happen?? I must have entered a time warp. :o) I better get busy stitching. I'm determined to keep up with the schedule this time.
don't panic... concentrate on one stitch at a time and remember next week is is the fourth Tuesday of the month and so no new stitches will be uploaded so that gives you two weeks to do two stitches or perhaps three.
I have my Crested Chain added. I thought this was a really intersting stitch. I'm not, however, very imaginative and I couldn't think of how you would embellish or use this stitch. Does anyone have any ideas?
I have ideas of using this stitch to embellish crazy quilt seams. If you look at your own top row of crested chain, it would be possible to stitch a bead or French knot in the little "v" of the crest, or you could put a detached chain with a couple of straight stitches around it in the same place. It is also possible to do two rows back to back. Or you can throw the crest on alternate sides as in the second bottom row of my crested chain sample. Then, there is plenty of space to put detached chains, beads, straight stitches etc in the spaces.
