This week's stitch is cast on stitch which to all of you knitters should be familiar. Sharon mentions that this is a time consuming stitch so I suggest that people don't leave it for the Sunday night rush. It definitely looks interesting, a bit like the maggots of earlier perhaps.

Sharon has again displayed some truly gorgeous samples here and here

The stitch dictionary diagrams are here

Sharon advises that for the best results with this stitch use a milliner's needle on a foundation fabric stretched in an embroidery hoop or frame

I have been a bit busy lately and so haven't been able to check out all of Sharon's links but you will find it worthwhile if you have the time to check out some of the discussions which come up on this page.

Last but not least for some really WOW ideas check out last year's pool

This is a stitch I did several weeks ago. I decided to just try out different threads. In my sample, some of them are caught down. Now, I hope to get one more done before I head off to Mongolia for 3 weeks this weekend.

Mongolia.. sounds tops. Have you completed all of the stitches which will be uploaded during time away or are you planning on catch up?
Your stitches look good and all of the info is handy for followers.

I had hoped to have them all done, but I only have Portuguese knotted stem stitch done!

Ahh well something to fill in those spare moments after you return.. between washing the mountain of clothes and catching up with everything else you haven't done while away of course :) Have fun

This week I also made just a couple of stitches as you can see here and here. Not of all of them turned out well, I really need to try it again when I have bought a milliner's needle.

You are definitely a bright little button with colour choice. I have the milliner's needles now let us advance onwards:)

Miriam, I like the colours you used.

I did an attempt, no great success. I put the pic in my album, but no link to it because it is not so good, even with a milliner 's needle .I think I will not stitch it very often!

Ohhh I was already having feelings of trepidation. You will find the group very supportive Jeanne and if you have questions about why it may have gone wrong I have found there is usually someone else who had the same problem and they are able to help out. look forward to seeing next week's stitch.... remember though.... at least you tried it.

I love the Cast-On stitch. Probably because I crochet and it reminds me of the lacy feel.
