Just a quick note before we start Sharon is offering a couple of online classes Encrusted Crazy Quilting which starts on Feb 25th and Developing a Personal Library of Stitches with Joggle.com. Both of these look great and it is worth checking them out and even if you don't sign up now keep them in mind for when TAST finishes if you would like to further develop your stitching.

As for this week our new stitch is wheatear stitch. There is only one extra resource for this, the stitch dictionary, and only four samples in the flickr pool so it appears as though people were either busy or interest was waning by midway through.... nudge, nudge to oneself .. get going!

Hello Cinza, I hope to do this one and catch up with satin stitch before next Tuesday.

There has to be a leader... and a follower. You take pole position and I am happy to follow behind!

If anyone needs inspiration to stretch wheat ear stitch, check out Elizabeth of Quieter Moments!! She has some great experiments. Now to plan my stitching. I find if I draw out what I plan to do, I can stitch in small time spaces.

I was planning on getting back to stitching today - I did plan out my wheat ear stuff - but I went and bought a new camera! so forget stitching for a while. I have spent a lot of time this past week researching cameras. All my mending, bar one pair of socks to be darned, is done so I am free to stitch!

I have just uploaded my sample of wheat ear stitch with detail 1, detail 2, and detail 3. There was more to explore in this stitch than I expected when I started. It is so lovely to be retired and have time to stitch. If I was still working, I would have dropped out a the beginning of the school year - well probably much earlier as there would have been other stitching I just had to get done over the Xmas break.

So Cinzia, What's next?

Detail 1 would have to be my favourite.... will upload the next stitch tonight since I missed last week.

Was flat out with finishing off quilts for the bushfire appeals that the days just flew past. By the time I remembered it was already Thursday and as no one had mentioned anything I thought I would simply let the last few days of the week slide by.

I love checking out your samples each week.. Hopefully you get some more people sewing with you in the future. I know I won't as I have too many things on my plate but I still love to see where you are going with all of the stitches... very inspiring.

You can leave it to Tuesday if you wish - I did notice it was missing, but I hadn't caught up, so I didn't say anything. I have plenty to do. I am learning how to use a new camera.

Regards,

Ruth

I love the look of this stitch, and was happy to persist until I got it right. Again thanks to Mary's video, I made a reasonable effort, although it still looks different from Sharon's sample! I used Perle thread, and it looks kind of chunky to me. Next time I try this one, I'll use the stranded cotton and see if it looks any better.
