Thanks go to Ruth for her gentle reminder that I had forgotten about TAST... again. I will need to put a note on my calendar as otherwise this will be a common event since I have the whole year off from work and as such one day is the same as the next.
Reading Sharon's blog it seems as though many people had started to hit the wall by this stage and she was also tossing up on changing the schedule to incorporate rest weeks... we luckily have had those all along but still life gets in the way.
Whether you are up to date or not make sure you check out last year's samples.. there are many WOWs in that flickr page.... and I couldn't even pick one favourite.
So no one has done their satin stitch! Mine is planned, but that is all. I have vowed to finish my mending and a bit of other sewing before I do any more embroidery!
Yes but at least when I was at work I could give that as an excuse for not getting something done. The fact that I am simultaneously working on about 20 projects (very low attention span) isn't the same:-)
I love the different array of threads which you use... shows you how dead 'normal' thread is doesn't it?
With the original plan how about couching some different cords.
I intend to experiment with removing the transfer and if that doesn't work I plan to try embroidering the design with different stitches we have already done and perhaps couching. I may not experiment with removing the stuff!! as the alternative looks nice in my mind!!
A recipe for removing pencil marks which sometimes works on pigma pen also.... try it out first somewhere where it won't be seen and be careful with it because it can run the ink from the pen if you use too much
1/4cup water
3/4 cup rubbing alcohol (available from chemist)
8 drops palmolive green dishwashing liquid
mix these together and dip a new toothbrush into the solution and gently scrub the marks away... wash the fabric when finished to remove traces of solution.
I have also successfully used exit soap to remove pigma pens but take care when rinsing this as again it can run if you use too much water
I have used satin stitch to make an ATC. I will be doing a larger panel in satin stitch as soon as I can get the threads I want, but this was a fun way to start. Photos flickr with more details on my blog. I am going back to catch up on basque stitch now. I started yesterday but didn't get it finished
that is gorgeous.... Can you also upload your stitches onto the TAST page as it makes it easier for slackos (not mentioning my name) who want to check out other samples when they do it later on.
I would if I could, my computer is playing up and won't let me upload to the TAST page despite several attempts. When I can get online using another computer, I'll try and get them all done
