Seems I'm a bit early this week, but I had so much fun stitching my sample yesterday that I am already done with it. So here is my sample for cross stitch with detail 1 and detail 2. All the stitches are worked in cotton embroidery floss.

I found a book about cross stitching alphabets and so I thought I try my name and I think it work out OK.
I have always liked the cross stitch alphabets...looks cute.
The flickr page is too full of inspiration! I am still working on varieties of fly stitch.
My sample is finished (see my blog, but I do not like it at all. So I did not upload it to the Flickr-group. Still working on a new one!
Oh Miriam, it is so pretty! OK, it is different from your usual style, but I see nothing wrong with that. What did you use for the border? Is it some kind of purchased sparkly trim?
I agree with Gina it is lovely. what don't you like...is it the bright border? That is very different from your usual style but comes up well.
The border is ok, it is just an attempt to brighten up a dull sample. But I have made a new one! Will post it in 24 hours on the Flickr group, after taking a picture.
I loaded a photo onto flickr with more details on my blog

Miriam-I like the way you have mounted your piece. You always come up with some lovely ideas
Jane, I am intrigued by the way you use printed fabrics to embellish with stitches. I never thought of doing that until I saw your work, and I'm keen to have a go myself on some of the fabrics I've got in my stash. It would make a change from embroidering plain material (i.e. counted thread or stamped linen), and I can see myself having fun matching threads to the fabrics!
Have a go Gina, you never know where it will take you. I have had a lot of this fabric for a a long time. It's just great to be able to get to use them in a fun way
How big is the total quilt? I would love to see a photo of the total thing as the separate parts all look fantastic.
I just uploaded to the group pool a photo of my cross stitch selection but don't see it yet.
