Permalink Reply by Mosaic Magpie on March 8, 2012 at 16:24 Hi Iris,
I used quilt batting to stuff my pebble, to a shape that looked good to me. On a google search it looks like wadding paper is like tissue paper. The pebble in the tutorial is created with a cardboard shape inside of it. I used plastic....the plastic from a thin disposable plastic bowl. I was afraid of using cardboard just in case the pebble ever got wet. That was the reason for the quilt batting and not tissue paper too. The back of the pebble is the the card board shape with a piece of muslin on the outside. This outside piece of muslin is stitched to your top embellished pebble shape, around the edges. As you are closing the front to the back, add bits of stuffing or paper to fill out your pebble shape. This bit of stuffing also helps to ease out any small remaining wrinkles. Hope this helps!

Permalink Reply by Oma Rose on March 8, 2012 at 17:52 Hi there everyone, it seems the initial surge of pebble making takes some time to recover from!
I have focussed on finally getting up to date with TAST. I had another deadline to meet in February, so have been running behind for a few weeks now and now feel rather virtuous being up to date and am impatient for next Tuesday!
I am reverting to some embellishment of a large quilt before I tackle my next pebble, a blue one for my mum. I will read with interest how the rest of the group is going and report back when I have something for show and tell. Regards to everyone. Keep your embroidery dry if you are on the Australian east coast; flood alerts every where.
PS I don't use Picassa or Flickr so would be interested in any pros/cons before I take the plunge. Rose

I like Picasa and have been using it for a year now. It's easy to crop, adjust, and lighten your pics, and is a lot faster than photobucket. Plus, it's FREE, which is always a bonus when one lives on a small pension......and that leaves more money for fabrics and threads..lol

Permalink Reply by Susan Cuss on March 8, 2012 at 20:22 I get lost in both of Gerry's blogs regularly! She stitches beautifully and offers wonderful tutes on CQing, too. enjoy.
Permalink Reply by Susan Cuss on March 10, 2012 at 17:42 I have been trying to upload a pic of my finished pebble all day, but my operating abilities have been curtailed because my ISP is changing operating systems. So, instead, I'll leave this link and you can check out my blog post if you're interested. Hope you're having a wonderful, sunny and warm weekend! We awoke to six more inches of snow. Wah!

Permalink Reply by Mosaic Magpie on March 10, 2012 at 21:03 I hurried over to see your pebble! Wow it looks great! I really like the way the color and texture kept my eyes looking for more. Such fun creating these free spirit works of art!
