I need some help! Tomorrow is my " stitching day". At the afternoon, after work, I usually sit at my corner on the sofa and I stitch till late in the evening!

Since I have finished-allmost-  all the unfinished projects, three hardanger kits - I am trying to learn...- what's next?

Do you ever come to this point? Where there are so many things and you don't know what to choose? And consider that I don't have too much free - happy stitching- time!

So these are my options:

  1. Start a cushion with lines of  different types of pulled threads, which I have never try again but I have the pattern from a magazine
  2. Spend the evening learning new stitches and make my own sample
  3. Finish an unfinished cross stitch table cloth, which I find a little boring now that I have seen all these beautiful things and stitches you do

Your opinion, please?

Yes, yes, yes!!!!! The harder part is when a project is done and I have to do the finishing- it is a loss of my stitching time!!!!!!!!!

But the list is getting bigger and bigger! But you know what? That's the fun part: there is so many things to do and learn that you never get bored!!!

I'd have suggested your second option if I'd been here when you'd posted this...

I agree with you, the list gets bigger always.By the time I finish 1 UFO I'd have added 3 to the list lol.

I read the comments love them all . Glad you got started on the project you seem to be loving Anna. I t already sounds like you are having fun. I love Nicola s comment I want to be more focused as am a butterfly when it comes to projects. I love learning new things so I believe I should start smaller projects. And the project you started has new stitches also.  Keep having fun Anna I will also. Happy stitching Elaine

I know just how you feel, I am a very disciplined stitcher, I have to finish a piece before I start another one, and every time I have a hard time deciding what to do next, my lists are very long. You should definitely stitch what you feel like, you don't want it to ever be just another job.

I am like you Connie, I prefer to have only one thing on the go at a time but since joining SF my mind is getting boggled with ideas and I am trying to do the tast stitch of the week. Also have small pram blanket I am knitting for my nephew`s soon to arrive baby.Once the baby is here then will stitch a sampler they think it is a boy but not going to risk starting till I know for sure. I know I will go back to my favourite technique hardanger soon as I get withdrawal symptoms!I Just had a thought, my elder daughter is 40 in july, maybe I should do a little sampler for her as was not stitching in the days when she arrived only knitting and dressmaking in those days of long ago.

You better get going Margaret, I think a sampler for your daughter is a great idea, I did one for my son and daughter in laws wedding. Today I am finishing up a doily, and have to figure out what I want to stitch next, I have a long list.

Anna, I have learned a lot from the different techniques over the years, and  I am so glad now that I learned such a variety because I can draw on that knowledge in so many ways and adapt the new things I learned into entirely different areas.   Go for the learning, and use the things you have waiting to fill in the hours in between.

I have a UFO list that I put up on my blog.  I try to have at least two UFOs that I am working on as well as something new or something that I am (currently) very passionate about.

Participating in the Stitcher's UFO Challengemakes me ever conscious of the comittment I made when joing that group.

Participating in Pin Tangle's TAST keeps me focused on new stitches or new stitch combinations.

So, long story short...I guess I do all three at the same time.

Anna, I admire your commitment to only working on one thing at a time. At any one time I have a pile of projects on the go, so I would have said "start them all". But the cushion sounds like a fantastic project to work on. And unlike me, you'll actually end up with something that's finished!
