Hi,
Just wondering what members are doing for their last project of 2012 and what would they like to do in 2013?
I am transforming a coat that I bought at a charity shop. Its a beautiful shade of light green. I am knitting some cuffs and another piece around the bottom. I am then adding some vintage trim bought in Australia and then embroidering some trees and flowers around the base. I think I might add a band of weaving too!
I would like to learn lots of new embroidery stiches and try to progress with my weaving, spinning. I would also like to do some stump work as I havent tried that yet.
At present I am listening to my Christmas CD and cleaning up my "woman cave" as it needs a bit of an organise before I embark on my new project!

Permalink Reply by Le Rinart on December 24, 2012 at 8:22 Last project I work on is my 3D squirrel for the Stumpwork embroidery class of 2011. Next year wil begin with the end of the squirrel + feathers and butterflies in Long and Short stitch intermediate classes. In the spring there'll also be the Beginners' class for Holbein Embroidery (I'm quite intimidated).
That's for school.
As for me, I have loads of projects running, some since 2009 ! List :
- Opus teutonicum (whitework on silk)
- Bayeux tapestry excerpt one (hopefully finished in the coming 6 months)
- Bayeux tapestry excerpt two (3 meters long, I still need to raise funds to buy the wool)
- Japanese woman on silk (technical problems to be solved with flat silk not behaving as expected)
- Ungerer Merry go round on silk (same)
- Two Tablecloths with classical embroidery flowers (on the side, no time at all)
- Knitted cushion sleeve with perlé cotton embroidery (same)
- Two baby knitted blankets to be embroidered (same)
- At least 10 patterns ready for transfer in the Dark Side Folder (I'm literally blooming with ideas in here)
- Plus piles of stash and fabric all over the place (I can barely walk in my 'office')
And there are some Rakam models that I'm burning to try. But would it be reasonable after such a list of things to finish ?! I LOVE EMBROIDERY ;)

Permalink Reply by Katie Cisek on December 25, 2012 at 13:23 I am working on a fabric journal and trying to actually finish the pages I started a while back. I'm adding words and embroidery.
And, there's so much I want to do in 2013, I don't know where to begin!
Whew, I just finished my first piece of cut work. I was hoarding some vintage sheer linen napkins and procrastinating like mad doing anything with them. I decided I wanted to end the year with something I had not done before so I found a simple drawing of vintage needlework for cutwork on coats and clark. My hands are not the steadiest in the world and it was hard for me to manage the buttonhole (one thread of cotton floss) stitch evenly around the motif. I want to do all kinds of things this coming year that I have not tried before! There is so much!
Permalink Reply by Sharonne Payne on December 26, 2012 at 6:32 I want to finish an afghan I began crocheting about 8 years ago. Then I want to improve my Thread Painting skills in 2013. I also need to clean up and reorganize my sewing room which may take most of the year. LOL
Permalink Reply by Connie Kusevskis on December 26, 2012 at 15:02 I am working on a fairly large white on white Hardanger tablecloth with a lot of weaving, it will take me into the new year. Happy New Year everyone.
Permalink Reply by Maryann Ashton on December 27, 2012 at 5:26 I am in the middle of a cross stitch I started just before I started the holiday ( I live in Australia and am visiting my mum in U.K.) However I can't wait to get it done because I want to do some Elizabethan or Jacobean embroidery. I discovered this site and have spent time looking a various sites getting really enthused about designs, stitches and projects. Now it's head down and finish my cross stitch.....
Permalink Reply by Shirley Tucker on December 29, 2012 at 2:20 I am finishing up my third hardanger piece, it is the largest of the three but still not huge. In 2013 I will be working on my 29 inch by 29 inch fractal cross stitch along with a set of hardanger ornaments. Also visiting with my new friends here on stitchinfingers :) Happy New Year all!
