Oh, how brilliant, I can go to bed and dream of the first stitch, Thank you for the impetus and inspirational cyber kick up the  :0)

thanks sharon, working on an idea should have it sorted in a couple of days, feels strange to be back in the land of embroidery!!

Fly Stitch! One of my favorites!! :) I can hardly wait to get started!

Fly Stitch, wonderful! It´s such an all-round stitch! Thank you Sharon for your inspirational examples!

Thank you Sharon, I will have fun with my first sampler and a start with a stitch I have only used a little.  I am getting on with it and am getting ideas as I go.

:::::::::little question:::::::::(I'm so excited I LOVE THIS COMMUNITY!!)

My question is do we take the stitch you give us on Tuesdays and make a sampler ? Or put it in a piece of block or item we are working on...? or both?

I just want to make sure I'm photoing the right thing lol Happy New Year E1 :-)

Pamela, you don't have to make a sampler if you don't want to, some of us are creating a cloth book for samples, some are using CQ blocks to dispaly their stitches.  If you need any inspiration or information, a good starting  point is Sharon's blog

Best wishes :)

Silly me I quite forgot that it was Week 1 of TAST 2012 yesterday, probably because I kept on thinking that it was Monday due to the bank holiday. I only realised my oversight this morning when I saw some pictures posted by other participants.

I had my fabric ready, it is 19" x 55" and I have basted the outline of two columns with 26 sections per column.  I intend to create a sampler of stitches which I will frame when finished. I will embroider a heading across the two columns at the end to incorporate Take A Stitch Tuesday 2012.

I have posted some pictures of my interpretation of fly stitch on my blog

ty ty...everyone...Isee where the sampler will come in handy as a reminder , Plus i've never done this fly stitch so it gives practice before putting it on a piece of work - Yaaaaay.....

Sharonb Thanks dear.

I am happy joining here.

I triedit out the week 1 fly stitch and posted in my blog and photostream.

Pamela Joy - the context in which you work your TAST stitches is totally up to you. Some people are doing samplers, some people are doing ATCs, some people are integrating TAST stitches into CQ blocks or other WIPS... totally up to you. Personally, I'm doing a mixture of the above. For unfamiliar stitches, I'll be adding them to a sampler first to get used to them and to have a lasting reference tool. For explorations with stitches I already know, I'll be working on ATCs (that I plan to give away in swaps) and on a Crazy Quilt project (that I will keep for myself).

I've got a little stitching done on one of my ATCs! yay! ... today I need to put together my crazy quilt block for this month's crazy quilt journal project. I was hoping to have the block ready by the start of January, but as you might guess, I'm a little behind schedule. I'll catch up though!

LOL I've just posted everywhere.  I really had fun with this. It made me think hard because it a kind of take-for-granted stitch.
