Websites for sewing tutorials

Can anyone recommend a particular website for sewing stuff up?

I meant as in the basics of sewing things up with a machine (not sure that this makes any sense either). I received a sewing machine as a Christmas gift. It comes with a CD, but that is just how to use the machine per se. I have looked at books, but they seem to be for experienced sewers.

Try this section @ amazon.

 Are you talking about basic sewing skils and constructing seams etc. ?

Take a look inside a few of them and you will get an idea of what you want, I'm sure. 

 If it is a more specific skill, such as free-machining, quilting, and so on, put your subject in the search section and have a good look around.

The way I learnt what my maching can do....tried every setting I could find on the machine...the results were great  he he

Hi Keith, I'm not sure on this one, as I learnt to sew via my mother, and trial and error in my younger days, not to mention 20 years dressmaking.  I didn't have the internet then, and never had a professional lesson.  Starting with simple garments is always the best policy, ie shorts, camisole tops, etc.  The more to do, the more confident you will become.  I have used this site on and off for interesting things, and maybe if you spend some time on it, you might find something interesting:

I Google 'basic sewing tutorials' and it seems like there are some interesting hits.  It's always worth putting in some time looking at what comes up.  One thing leads to another, and another.

If you need any help, perhaps some of us on SF can be of assistance.  Are you planning on making anything in particular??
