Tatting

I have started learning needle tatting so that I'll have pieces to add to my CQ blocks. Does anyone else in the group tat? Shuttle tatting is more popular, but really hard. I could not do it.

Margaret, did you find somebody in the UK? The address would maybe be good for me, too.
Did you type an error? 42,89$ would be too much and impossible. I thought about 12 $ . Which would also be unpayable. I will order in USA and have them sent to my daughter's address who will bring it to me in August - this is my plan.

Oh Anneleise,  I went to your page and typed a long letter to you then thought I had not sent it so did it again and the same thing happened, this time I saw that you moderated messages, if you do not get them let me know and I well start over again, is that okay?  PS also joined up as a follower on your blog.

Oh, how lovely - I have a new follower, thank you, Margaret, I hope not to disappoint you.

 Needles and book have arrived and loving it. Tried it with a thicker needle and wool as I thought it would be easier but find crochet 20 cotton works better, one day I might be able to put some on CQ but do not hold your breath.  Much easier than with a shuttle and better still if you go wrong it is easy to undo   have done quite a bit of that this weekend!

I haven't done the shuttle tatting, but the needle tatting is fantastic!

Oh, lovely to follow your discussion. My order of the needles could not be processed by Handy Hands for the moment. So I have still to wait some time. Patience, patience!

 you know what they say Anneliese     everything comes to those who wait.    They will be worth waitng for, now using crochet cotton 10`s quite successfully but canot manage 20`s yet

Hi Margaret. I have found a set of tatting needles on ebay and also at my local Hobby Lobby craft store. Price is $12-15 for the set.

Hi everyone. I have a couple articles I've written for CQMagonline that discuss how I learned to needle tat. I did it for the same reasons you all have said - so you could add it to cq work. thanks for the info Michelle,    hoping needle tatting will catch on here in Britain, have not met anyone who does it yet and most people look blank when I talk about it. Taking needles to a local group to show those who are imterested,stll struggle a bit with tension but getting there.  Have checked out the magazine article and will follow your blog (if you keep it up!!)

Hello Margaret and Michelle, same thing in Germany - people don't know anything about it and are at complete loss when I am asking in shops. I took doll's needles and made them blunt. Of course, they are rather thin and I don't know which size they would actually represent - 3 - 5 - or 8.I will send a photo to Margaret - because here I can't include a photo -
My longer needle is 12,5 cm and 1 mm thick

Anneliese I have ordered a new book for needle tatting, hope it comes tomorrow, also asked for another needle size 5 so will be able to compare it better to yours as I do not know the numbers on mine, like you said from your photo and ter photo I sent you they look about the same size.The place I have ordered it from say I should be using 10`s thread but I am using a thicker one, thinkl it is 20`s but it does not say in the label find 10`s a bit fiddly at th moment but will keep trying
