Quilting or Padding A Stitch & Zip Needlepoint E-Reader Case For Kindle 3

Hi, my name is Margaret.  I'm a newbie here.  I have intermediate level skills in needlepoint learned through classes.  I am familiar with a number of different needlepoint stitches.  I love needlepoint but cannot always do it when I like because I work and take care of my elderly mother.

I have very, very limited experience with sewing (hand and machine) and no experience with quilting.

I would be very appreciative of any suggestions or help for a specific project I am working on now.

I was delighted to find a Stitch & Zip needlepoint e-reader case (kit) while on vacation.  I started this small project and I'm making good progress.  Upon returning from vacation I bought the Kindle 3.  Uh-oh!!  The case seems to have been designed to fit various e-readers or perhaps Kindle 2.  It is a little on the big side.  I contacted the manufacturer who says most people are modifying the case with quilting or padding inside the front cover behind the needlepoint and inside the back cover where you place the Kindle under 4 corner straps.  This extra padding is said to make the Kindle 3 fit snugly.

Has anyone modified a Stitch & Zip e-reader case in this way?

Whether you have or not, does anyone have any suggestions on fabrics or techniques for doing this??  What would you do or suggest?

Thanks in advance.
