I am a new member to Stitchin Fingers. Could someone please explain to me the differences between pulled thread and drawn thread embroidery. Also, which one is more difficult? If someone has a website or Google source that explains it, that would be great also. Thanks.

Hi Beverly,

Pulled Thread work is where the fabric threads are distorted with stitching. It is this distortion which gives the pattern.

Drawn Thread work is where fabric threads are removed, then stitching is used to decorate the remaining threads & spaces.

Jenny's explanation is very succinct! Both are very absorbing and can produce beautiful results. I find it hard to describe to friends how different stages can be exciting, they glaze over, but I'm sure that the techniques compare well with sports of different sorts!
