Like me, from time to time you go to a workshop, or read something, or someone tells you a hint or tip and your response is...well I didnt know that and then you think, I will remember that and give that a go and hey presto it works.
Some of the stuff is so simple and easy. I was in a beading shop a while ago trying to replace a bead that had come off a shoe. The very kind lady helped me to find a bead and then said if I didnt want to loose one in future I should apply a coat of clear nail varnish over the top and that would solve the problem. Obviously I wouldnt do it with my diamonds,(well I may consider it, but thats another story!) but any decoarations on shoes, bags etc now get the treatment and still look great and no losses so far! I have also discovered that clear nail varnish is good at giving things a "wet" look. I made a braided river scarf a while ago and stuck small stones on to create the braided river effect. A coat of varnish made them look great.
Another useful tip I learned recently(well it was news to me) is that dental floss is good for sewing on buttons etc. My hubby seemed to lose buttons on his shorts on a regular basis and I tried linen thread etc. Then I was told about dental floss and no more lost buttons. It does break down eventually in the wash, but seems to last for ages!

I don't have any pearls of wisdom of my own to share I'm not that knowledgeable about things like that and I wish I was, most of what I know about embroidery and quilting comes from my Mamaw and it's things that a lot of people already know. But it's always nice to pick up new things, that dental floss for fixing buttons is really neat! I kinda want to try that now. Thanks for sharing that, that's really neat and now I'm going to see if my Mamaw knows that, lol.

You can use the little hook as a threadcutter to be used on a plane, as you can't bring scissors on the plane.
