pearl cotton 8

Hi friends,
Iam a beginner in embroidery and I wanted to buy some DMC cotton pearl 8 threads.I went hunting for it at the local craft stores(michaels and ACmoore).they both seem to have some collection of size 3 and 5.but in size 8 I could find only a couple of colours like red,blue,black and white.why is it so?Iam so confused.dont size 8 come in other colours?and do they only come as balls and not skeins?I live in Durham,NC,USA.kindly tell me the best place to find these threads.

Their selection is complete; their price is right; and their customer service has been excellent in my experience.

I have never seen pearl cotton sold other than in balls.

Dmc definitely has skeins of #5 and #3 - and has had for as long as I can remember - but I have never seen smaller weight in a skein. I think they have quite a full range of all colours in those skeins. I am not sure you can buy either in balls but may be wrong there.

Another good online source for the size 8 balls of DMC pearl cotton is http://www.123stitch.com. Their prices and shipping costs are a little less than some of the on-line sites and their service is unbeatable.
