I do wish there was an explanation posted here when something is changed. My Profile Page has been moved around, things taken off and things added on! If it is our own Page, can't we have a say about any changes that are made?

Gina its Ning that has done it - if it is any consolation the same thing happened to me and I had no notice of what was happening

LOL Sharon, how dare they (Ning) mess around with us - you're the Boss here! Thanks for the superfast reply - do you know what that update link thing on our profile page is?

Yes, I noticed the "why are you here?" thing at the top of my page. It is similar to the way Facebook has you update your status. Maybe Ning is trying to keep up with the latest in web networking?

My first reaction was to type in 'Who want's to know ... and what are you doing here? This is MY place!'

Like it......

I think "what brings you here" is miss leading it should be what have you been doing as it is a status update. I think Ning is updating itself and we are all being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century social web

I have just realised that status updates appear in the latest activity section of the front page - if you scroll past the photos and groups
This means we could use it to make announcements - let people know about blog updates etc
Do we want to raise that section of the page? Above the groups maybe? I use the photos and love browsing them and think others do that too. So I think they could remain the same - Or I could just leave it alone as too many changes in one week gives people a head ache ....

My own feeling is leave it alone - I reckon most of the Stitchin Fingers members are probably happy with the way things are, but if there is dissent, speak now or forever hold your peace!

I find the latest activity section very useful, probably because I am nosey and want to know what is happening :-) I use the 'follow this' feature to get alerts when someone posts on a thread that I am particularly interested in but would probable miss interesting topics in groups I have not joined if but for this.

I don't think blog updates show up anywhere so the alerts would be a good way to let everyone know about them.

Personally, I don't find the groups bit very useful. I have noticed that they are arrange in order of activity, most recent first. I don't have alerts for new discussions switched on, so this sometimes brings my attention to those. I've not figured out any other use for it.

It is a bit irritating when Ning just alter things but I guess that they are developing new features all the time. You never know, one day they may add a feature that we all really want - like feel-o-vision :-D

Yep, too many changes gives us a headache!
I have 'Recent Activites' fed into my reader, which means if I haven't got time to browse around here properly even things which no longer show up on Recent Activites here on the main page will show up there. I have a quick look through them and mark any I want to follow up later, and can come in and reply quickly to anything which might need a quick response.
By the way Sharon, I noticed the update about your finger on the reader ........... you should be wearing a thimble!
But very nice to know you are quilting!

I am wearing a thimble - its a second finger I use - its not regular type quilting - more tying (I described it on my blog) I hide the stitches behind buttons, beads etc Now both thumb and finger are raw!

Usually whatever finger you put the thimble on you use the next one anyway!
