It would be great if everyone could put a photo up of themselves.

I prefer chatting and looking at a face not a silhouette.......anyone agree??

Yes I heartily agree...this is a very safe site, and we are all embroiderers.  However, people could have a personal reason for not having their photo on display.   I did have my own photo up until someone from my past  googled my name and found my blog and my sf page, who was not very nice, so i have had to clear my surname from my settings and put up a photo of my work instead of my real photo just to stop them finding me through google.  however, all the friends I have met prior to that know that I am a real person.

That wasnt a dig at anyone, hope you didnt think it was!! Just that I like seeing to whom I am chatting :)

Just put it out there as so many dont have any pic!!

I agree with Shirley, not everyone feels confident, or safe enough to publicly display their photograph.

This does not apply in my case and although it I may sound a bit strange,  I like to have an avatar of what I do, to represent me.  I am passionate about textile and stitch I choose to have my 'cat's eye', which has its own story.

I agree with you Nicola. But I see the others point.  I like to see the people that I am chatting with also though. And I do love seeing everyone ones work and all the stories that go with their work.

I agree with you Nicola. It's very unfortunate until now I was not able to upload my photo on this site...I tried so many times but failed. One day, I'll try again...

I will start again and do it properly sorry folks.

Not at all Nicola, that did not even occur to me just tried to explain why I have not got a real photo of me, and perhaps there are some like Salmah who have not been able to ...but there are a few, so maybe they need some assistance, or just time to feel comfortable.

Fair enough.I like to browse through members profiles and tend to look at those with a pic first :)

HI Nicola, I do agree with you that it is nice to 'see' the individuals but I also like the avatars that others choose to represent themselves, especially if they use a sample of their own work.  I use my pink butterfly on as an avatar on everything and I know that people who know me on one site, instantly recognise me by that on another site where I might use the pseudonym coral-seas rather than my real name.

Hi Nicola, I've tried to update my Avatar with a photograph, but it just won't work!!  Having said that, I do know that several people have commented on the photograph that I do use, so everyone likes something different I suppose.  Some of the time, if you go to the member's blog you will see a photograph of them there.

Thanls Linda :)
