I have ordered a book but it is in Japanese... are the charts the same a cross stitch?
i.e. each square on the chart is two threads. I want to be ready when the book arrives.
so any help with this technique will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Julie, I have a small book with Kogin patterns. The text is Japanese, but the charts are just like any other counted thread charts and if your book is similar, you will understand what they mean. I have a feeling [without looking at the book] that each line on chart is one thread of linen. I have a design in an Inspirations magazine, and again I feel sure the lines represent one thread of linen. Good luck with it. I bought my book from Sanshi.
I really like the look of Kogin... the book I have ordered has a bag done in a natural linen with a off white thread ... really effective. I bought it from Etsy ... Japan love crafts.
I have seen a free Kogin pattern online but you know me... I would rathher do a large piece.
I will talk to you more about this... thanks for the info
