Hi every one

my name is Anja, 32 yrs old and live in Del City Oklahoma. I was born in Germany but moved to OK almost 7 yrs ago. I'm married and a mom of 5. My second youngest son is Autistic (6 yrs old), so i'm a stay at home mom who loves to do all kinds of crafts. My favorite crafts are crochet, hardanger embroidery, knitting and soap making. But i also cross stitch, do beaded jewelries, greeting cards an so on. I'm not getting out of house much, because of my Autistic son, so i'm a lot on the Internet interacting with people and chat, mostly about crafts lol. That's basicely all about me. If you like to know more about me or my crafts, feel free to ask.

Hi Anja, welcome to stitchinfingers, you should try Hardanger with color, it is a lot of fun. I love the to do different things, and Hardanger lends it self very well. I was born and raised in Denmark, but I have lived in the US the last 38 years, my husband is from Latvia and we have two children and two grand children. I have stitched Hardanger and Cross Stitch since I was 8 years old, but my favorite is Hardanger, I am addicted. I would love to see some of your Hardanger work. Connie

Glad to meet you Anja. Can't wait to see some of your work. You will love Stitchin Fingers everyone is friendly and helpful. I love it here. And there are a lot of new friends to stitch with. Happy Stitching Hugs Elaine

Hi Connie,

we almost were neighbors, if you wouldn't have moved away before i was born lol. I have already planed on doing Hardanger with Color. I ordered a pattern called the Carnation Doily, with little pink flowers. Has also new stitches for me i haven't tried. I'm still fairly new to Hardanger. I've done one coaster ( will post a picture tomorrow) and was working on a Doily for my Mother in Law. I have every thing done on there but the weaving. It's a lot and i needed a break lol. So i started on a new one, where i'm about half way through. I love doing Hardanger, it's just so mesmerizing when i'm working on it and it let'z me relax.  Anja

Hello Anja and welcome. I am also fairly new to this site, and I am already so inspired to try new techniques. Everyone is so welcoming and helpful. And I am still finding my way around the different sites. My main craft is quilting, but I also like to do embroidery as well. I will enjoy looking at your hardanger work. It looks quite a difficult craft. The internet makes it easy to expand our knowledge base doesn't it?

Hello Claire,

thank you for your welcome. I admire you for your quilting craft. That is something i can't do. I tried it before, but i'm not that talented with quilting for some reason. but you can't have everything in life. I find Hardanger isn't really that difficult. I find rather easier then original embroidery. Yes the Internet helps quite a lot to further your knowledge in all kinds of things. Just last night i downloaded a book on embroidery which supposed to have stitches in it and paid like 7 $. When i went through it, it wasn't at all what it described and very frustrating. I could find more on the net for free then from this book.
