Hi, I'm Meg from New Zealand. What a wonderful community you have here. I have just recently joined and have received so many warm greetings. Thank you for making me feel so welcome here. My dear friend Starr, from Alabama USA, pointed me in this direction telling me what a wonderful community you have here, and she is so right (thank you Starr!).

I enjoy many differnt types of fibre art. I enjoy embroidery, sewing, doll-making, quilting, knitting, weaving, dyeing and many other handcrafts. I always feel that I want my hands to be busy. It's coming up stitching time here in New Zealand, as we move into cooler weather (it's late autumn here). During the summer I tend to be working in the garden during my spare hours away from work, so not much stitching gets done.

Right now I am finishing a mohair lace jacket that I knitted from yarn that I dyed a shocking chartreuse green. It just needs blocking and sewing together - just in time for a change in seasons. I'm also knitting mohair lace armwarmers (like long fingerless gloves) for myself as well as some cosy patterned socks for my husband. My current embroidery projects are a counted thread 3D Christmas tree (best to be in early!) and a range of embroidered bracelets. I am working on a few commissions for knitting and embroidery work at the moment, and I feel very blessed being paid to do such creative work. It's like a dream come true.

As the daylight hours get less, I am looking forward to spending more time on this site ogling other people's beautiful handiwork! I will try not to dribble on the keyboard in my excitement!

Like you Meg I was so glad when I stumbled over stitchin fingers, looking at everyones creations is a lovely way to pass the time. I catch up with what has been posted overnight when I get up, usually around 5.30am some days it can take a few hours to look at what ohers have done, what a great way to while away the time! You certainly turn your hand to mant techniques and as you say to be able to work to commissions is very rewarding.

I understand the itch to get up and check in on Stitchin Fingers first thing, Margaret. It's very tempting. I am amazed by the variety and the wonderful talent!

Hi Meg,

I see you like to be 'on the go' 24/7 -   So many things to do - so little time!

Stitchinfingers is the best place to come for information and lots of inspirational works by creative people.

Enjoy your ogling!
