Hello everyone!  Another new member here.

My name is Joanne, you might recognise me better as Salvaged Mutiny.  By day I am a wardrobe supervisor on cruise ships but by night I am a bit of a stitching pirate!  I am obsessed with sewing, particularly hand embroidery.  I have recently branched out and now include a bit of machine embroidery in my work and am looking into where quilting will fit as well.

I have only recently realised that I am a mixed media fibre artist (who knew??) and although I love my wardrobe job, I dream of being able to live off of my art as well.

Any advice for a budding fibre artist would be much appreciated!

Nice to meet you all!

Hi Jo,

Welcome on board that is! By day I am also trying to live more and more of my embroidery skills. So I wish you good luck with your goal!

Have a nice day, Jessica

Ahoy, Jo, and welcome to S/Fingers

Advice in one word - Experimentation!

Don't be afraid to mix and match anything you have to hand and give your self time to play with various media, this is how we all develop our own unique style and grow in expertise.

Barbara

Thank you everyone!  I am happy to be here!
