friend request thru stitchin fingers but she is not a memeber

I received an e mail for a friend request thru stitching fingers when I clicked it took to my friends with no friend request in my in box she told me to contact her thru her e mail personally. I typed in the name she left me but there was no such member with that name her name was Julie drk. If she is a memeber please let me know. A little confused about what is going on here please let me know something if anyone knows about this. Thanks Elaine

Hi Elaine, I too had the same email, her picture came up on the members list, but when I clicked on to her page it said it was private. There were no photos or any mention of needlework or anything like it.  I have only just become a member of stitchin fingers so wasn't sure what to do about it.  Anyway I was a bit suspicious, so I deleted it.  Rosemary

The member was a little suspect I think Elaine. I had a friend invite too and I ignored it as she seemed -well - not actually interested in needlework but in wanting to tell you about her other interests - if you get what I mean. I let SharonB know (as did several other members ) and she actually banned her from the site I think.

Thanks Rosemary I wonder if we could get some feed back from Sharon B I think she caught a spamer last week. If they do not have any photos or are private I do not add them to my list. And it is usually people i am commenting on or they are commenting on my pics so I kind of know them through there work.It seemed strange

Thanks Sally for letting Sharon B know I just found it a little strange. I ignore it also. Hugs Elaine

I got this email too. At present I access this site with a phone and at times find it hard to navigate so was unable to report to Sharon .Thanks for letting her know.

There was a comment in mine too.I agree with Sally and I've ignored that request. Thanks for letting SharonB know.

Hi Elaine, I also got this email from this Julie Drk. Mine said she wanted to be my friend and to answer her at this email address which is a yahoo email. I checked here also to see if she is a member here and didn't find her name, so i didn't answer back. I'm afraid it's a spyware or something not good. I just noticed there's a friends request at my profile, when i click to see who it is there's no name showing...??? this seems strange to me also. Is anyone else having this problem? I also deleted it.

I just want us all to be able to reply and check each other notes on this. It is important that we hear of these sort of things. I think Sharon B blocked her. Just keeping in touch with my stitching buddies. Hugs Elaien

I got the spammers e-mail three times last week.  By the second one I realised what it was and just deleted it and by the following day Sharon had caught on and dealt with it.  Haven't had this Julie Drk yet but if the name comes up I will now realise what is happening.  It is good to share these people's names so we know what to do.

If someone makes their entire profile private, they don't want you to know who they are.  Caution is one thing, but making sure no one can trace back to you is an indication that you intend nefarious deeds.  Private profile page? Don't respond to anything they send you.

Hi People I just noticed this thread - the member is not a member because I banned her as soon as I heard about this activity. If ever there is a suspicion about a member just contact me. There are scammers out there and they get tossed quickly.

I sent a message out to all members about how I had banned her but if you email messages from me (ie the email notifications from "a message from stitchin fingers" in your settings) you would not have got it

Today I have received an email from Lizzyglitter saying she has added me as a friend, when I checked members etc could not find her, is this another scam of some sort? There was nothing on my members site to say she had requested me or anything do not understand what is going on will wait and see what happens next.
