Thank you. I'm proud of what so many white American voters were willing to do--elect a black man as our president.
though I live in Holland, I was excited, happy and felt indead the hope in the air! it gives hope that one day racism and antisemism will disappear. It can.
strange though (of not?), in all the blogs I am subscribed to (creative and aftful blogs mostly) they were all for Obama.
Every time I hear or see President-elect Barak Obama I get teary! I feel so full of emotion for his accomplishment and what he represents for this country. He is proof of what I have felt for a long time, that many of us, especially the younger generations, have in large part moved beyond racism and other limitations that have trodden down this country in many ways for such a long time.
I have so much hope when I listen to Obama because he is the first person to run for office who is not part of the old establishment! He comes from humble beginnings, even has family ties to my state, and he understands the problems and challenges we face, both large and small. He is a brilliant person who knows how to govern wisely.
It does amaze me how much his election has had a world-wide impact. People all over the world are excited to see him headed to the White House. (Maybe they'll have to change that name...heehee)
I was also encouraged that his opponent only took a small majority of votes here in Kansas...I think it was 56% for McCain and 44% for Obama. For such a conservative state that says a lot! Those of us supporting Obama are thrilled, to say the least.
Right on, Liv. I totally agree. I've been glued to CNN for months. He's a breath of fresh air for the whole world. I pray he does well and stays safe.

Shari, I am with you..... I think we all need to pray for safety of this great man and his family ! Like many others right around the globe, I believe he will bring a breath of fresh air ... America you have done well !
I really do agree with you Liv! At first I hoped it would be Hillary for she's a women, and we woman can rule the world. But Barack Obama gives lots of people hope and I do hope he can manage it to do a lot of what he wants for the people while he's president. It is very hard for him at this moment of financial crisis and war and so on to be a president. But I think with the help of the people around him he must succeed, maybe not in everything but at least a few things!
Ditto to all the above comments! There will always be a few dissenters, but I know by the polls here that most Aussies are pleased for the USA, and are hoping that he will be able to serve out his term and beyond without anything awful being done by some crazy person.
It's soon Thanksgiving! What do you bring to friends if you are invited to their house?
