Hi all I thought I would start this group and see if people were interested in joining. If you are here leave a message to introduce your self. Tell us what your fiber interests are too
I will also test the image function and leave some eye candy
I'm here too! This is Sue, from the Magpie's Nest (http://sewingmagpie.blogspot.com). I'm in Washington state, almost on the coast. Like most of the rest of you I have tried my hand at a variety of needlework techniques. Currently I'm piecing by machine and hand embellishing with stitch, beads, sequins, and anything else I can tie down with a bit of thread. I'm participating in the Take It Further challenges and in the Bead Journal Project (which is coming to an end for this year but will begin again in September). I'll be in Sharon's journal class this summer too. I have developed chemical intolerances that make it dangerous for me to leave my house so the internet has become my tool for staying connected with like-minded folks. This will be great!
Hi all, Faye Dianne invited me to Stitchin Fingers and I'm just trying to get myself familiar. I'm new to quilting (2000) and started with needle turn hand applique and gravitated to crazy patch and I think that is my passion. I have the freedom to do what I want but as yet need a paper pattern to make up the background and plan out the larger block embellishments too - Go Figure! And in a few of the groups I'm in I've been introduced to using various weights of floss/yarn for embellishments and talk about a totally different picture from my usual DMC basic floss. My other passion is miniature sized quilts and these babies seem to take as long as a regular quilt to put together. Then I was introduced to fabric postcards - that definitely will be the death of me I think - I'm told I'm to picky/fussy etc. in this. Then I started using the selvedges and making cup matts and now gone one step further and hand embroidering some for postcards. LOL, no I do not rest! Lately for something different I've taken up Hardanger through classes at our LNS and that I find rewarding too. I can't wait for retirement, May/June 2010, maybe some WISPs completed!!! Okay that's enough from me.
Hello to you all,
Something about me.

10 years ago I stepped into the world of quilting I just did the things on my own.
3 years ago my friend Ati told me about Crazy Quilting and introduced me at the COH, (hi girls),
So I started making and swapping hearts, and how I like the contacts all over the world!!!
Since last October I join the CQAW , I'm just a beginner in this group but I saw I learned a lot since I started 3 years ago with CQ.
Hope we have nice time together.
Sharon, I'm not sure whether to thank you for starting Stitchin Fingers or .......! Already I don't have time enough for stitching, and because of you I've started blogging, too. Now I have lots of online friends to keep up with. And definitely not enough time for stitching. What am I thinking---being here??
I've taken Sharon's courses--Personal Library of Stitches and Sumptuous Surfaces and I participated in her TAST challenge last year. Great experiences, all.
My fiber interests are surface embroidery with all kinds of fabrics, threads, and whatever else I can stitch on; crazy patchwork, and goldwork. Because of disability, the time I can spend creating anything is limited, so my output is scant and much of it is for gifts. But I love seeing what others are doing.
Hi Sharon and all other members,
I love all things made of fiber, and all kinds of work that uses needleand thread.I like counted thread embroidery best.I also like tatting, knitting, crochet ,freestyle embroidery and sewing.I feel very happy to be a part of this grand group.I spotted a few of my friends amongst the Members, but like to be friends with the others whom Iam/willbe meeting for the first time, too. Thanks for the invite Sharon.
Hi Everyone. I am Jenny & live in Sydney, Australia. I love all things textile related & have dabbled in just about every form of textiles since I was a little girl. I am a trained dressmaking teacher, earn my income from teaching & sewing for clients, I belong to 4 real groups of textile practitioners as well as numerous on-line groups. I am a member of the NSW Embroiderer's Guild, The Australian Lace Guild & the Australian Sewing Guild. Currently, I am doing the TIF challenge, participating in a counted thread RR with one of my Yahoo groups, making 1 wedding dress & 3 bridesmaids dresses, getting ready for a Lace Exhibition at a gallery in Western Sydney & tackling a challenge for one of my real groups. My number one textile love would be making lace, in particular those formed by the removal of threads from fabric ( ie, drawn thread, hardanger, schwalm, filet, Reticella etc)
Hi, I'm Margaret from Virginia. I was going to wait until I could add an appropriate photo to my page before introducing myself, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards this week. I love all sorts of embroidery, especially stumpwork and other surface work, and historical embroidery. I've just started weaving and I love that as well. My future plans include a woven tapestry with embroidery embellishments. I also teach young people to stitch and work with fiber, so ideas are welcome!
Hi to everyone,
I'm Jane from Michigan USA.... I'm a crazy quilter , "sane quilter" and collector of all things related. I love playing with colors, textures, and unconventional ideas.
This community looks like it'll be great fun and an awesome sharing tool for like minded textilers and
I'm excited to be here!! J
Hi All, and thanks Sharon for inviting me to join what seems will be an exciting new group.
I live in country Victoria, Australia on a small acreage that also keeps me busy at times. I see some familiar names from TIF and other online groups of which I'm a member, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they are doing, meeting more like minded stitchers and learning heaps. I've been sewing since I was a child, but now tend to focus on traditional patchwork and quilting, embroidery and other surface textile works where I'm attempting to be a bit more original and creative. I also do an occasional bit of knitting in front of the TV! Currently I'm doing a monthly journal quilt, TIF, and classes at the Embroider's Guild. I'm interested in making felt, (in fact made some this morning from my Collie's fur), and recently purchased an embellisher and having fun playing with that as well!
Hi all - I am Marg from Brisbane Queensland. I am a weaver (with a still loom at the moment) who discovered stitching when I did Sumptuous Surfaces. Embroidery has become almost an addiction (thankyou Sharon). I decided to take up the TIF challenge to continue the learning process from both SS and PLOS.
Hi All
I'm Trish and live in a large regional city in NSW, Australia. Jenny invited me (thanks Jenny!) I do all kinds of machine sewing including machine embroidery (my current 'obsession'!) and avoid hand sewing like the Plague! I have also done other kinds of crafty things like knitting, crochet, woodworking (cabinets), paper tole, leather work (briefly) and lead lighting (also briefly) Teddy Bear making (VERY briefly and too messy!) I'm also a gadget freak! I have some of my 'stuff' on my website http://www.tmedesigns.com/
I think this is a brilliant idea. It means I can sort of being in a circle of likeminded people. I have been a bit slack of late with my own fabric work. I have just lost so much motivation. I hope to find some by coming here and keeping up. I am still new to much stuff, and I realise my level is not as advanced as I feel it should be. Lack of practice for so long.
Sharon, thanks so much for your blog, your ideas and for this network.
