Hi all I thought I would start this group and see if people were interested in joining. If you are here leave a message to introduce your self. Tell us what your fiber interests are too
I will also test the image function and leave some eye candy
I am Jennifer. I live in Calgary, Canada. I like to embroider, crazy quilt, knit, sew, tat. I'm sure there are other things as well that I can't think of right now. Right now I am mostly knitting. I have 2 small children, so I don't always have a lot of time, but I try to do a little something everyday.
Hi everyone, I am Kirsten and I'm from Germany.
I am a cross-stitcher and making my own cross-stitch designs for a number of years now.
Some time ago I felt in love with crazy-quilting.
I haven't done alot so far but love watching others work, and doing some little pieces like dolls or ornaments from time to time.
I also like lots of other crafts and reading art blogs.
Painting and drawing is another hobby but I don't do it very often.
I can't do the same thing for a long time so I have times I draw for a couple of weeks and after this I put down the pencil and pick up the needle to cross-stich or embroider or sew or whatelse comes in my head.
My English is not as good as it should be so I hope I will figure out how everything works on this site.
Hello Sharon and everyone! I'm Cathy Kizerian, a crazy Crazy Quilter in the Salt Lake Valley of Utah. I'm a married, 54 yr-old empty nester whose been stitching all her life and CQ'ing for 8 years. Sharon, thanks for the invitation! This will be a great group!!
Hi Sharon! (Thanks for your note on my page.) I am LouAnne Sassone, mum of 3 daughters, grandmum to 7 and wife to G for 40 years. I teach Redwork embroidery and crazyquilting here in No. California. I and some of my former students have had a local stitching group called Delta Crazy Stitchers for several years now - maybe 6? My greatest joy in life is embroidery and my greatest pain is living so far away from our children and grandchildren. Friends like you, in our local group and here in this group are my lifesavers. This morninig I'm still plockin' about here trying to figure out this whole "NingThing!"
Hello I am a stay at home mom who homeschools two special needs boys- 7 and 12. I love to bead and create dynamic religious art. I also make ATC's and am currently working on two large projects for charity- one is BFAC and the other is Turtles of Hope.
Hi everyone! Noticed this on Sharon's blog this morning (thank you so much for doing this, Sharon... I just learned about Ning yesterday, and was thinking something like this would be a good idea!) and had to join as soon as I had the chance. looks like a LOT of people beat me to it!
If it's fiber, I'm interested. I'm a dilettante when it comes to fabrics and threads! I do stumpwork, counted work, canvaswork, needle lace, bobbin lace, knitting, crochet, crazy quilting and more, and none of them as much as I would like to do (there ARE only so many hours in a day, after all... now if only I could give up sleeping!). I'm also a bellydancer, so add beading and decorating costumes to that list...
Hi Sharon and everyone else! What a great idea this group is.
I'm Leslie -- from California, living in Milan, Italy, after several years in northern India. There, I studied with Tibetan masters to learn a traditional sacred textile art. I make hand-stitched silk appliqué images according to this tradition, and have recently begun to incorporate some contemporary imagery and techniques into my work. I love fabric, textures, and colors -- as so many of us here do!
I also recently started blogging -- just three and a half months ago. I find that process helps me to continuously renew a positive approach to my work and my life.
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!
My name is Carol and I think this site is a wonderful idea. Already I see a fascinating mix of artists and crafters. And the colors! Quite the visual treat.
I own a small business focused on Japanese kimono and vintage textiles. I will be very busy with events this summer in California, Oregon and Washington state, so I may not be around too often until the fall. I do blog regularly and look forward to reading many of the member blogs, as well.
This was the good surprise of the day, to discover this network.
I just had time to sign up and send a message to two groups I belong to to share this good news. Did not have time yet to advertize on my blog...
And this evening, I already met three friends!
I'm a 50 old technical writer, with either a needle or a book in her hands when not working or gardening. And this started very long ago.
I've discovered textile arts about 5 years ago, when I saw my first issue of quilting arts, and gained even more interest last year when I discovered Sharon's courses and challenges. That's when I started creating projects on my own, small and easy ones, still very much inspired from what I read, but mine.
Must leave you now, to have a walk through the site!
Hugs
Vero
Hi, I'm Lisa DuCoing From Carson City, Nevada.
I've just finished my fairy crazy quilt Dreamweaver. It is entered in two shows so far (the local guild show and the one at the national auto museum in Reno in July)...and depending on how it is received, it will be entered in the Road 2 California in January.
I used naughty french postcards and printed them to fabric
and then turned them into fairies.
I've picked up my mermaid quilt again...same postcards, but I make them into mermaids....and I've started my next crazy quilt...."Arachnaphobia", a study in spiderwebs.
