Hi,

I'm Dakotah...alias MichelleMermaid. I live in Kansas and am new to these sites. I am so glad to have found StitchinFingers. I know I will learn a lot here. I've already seen so many gorgeous creations from the talented artists who gather here.

I've posted a few pictures of my stitching on my page, so feel free to look. I often think my embroidery is really sub-par, then I go back to it after a while and think "Wow! Did I do that?" haha...I guess it's true we're our own worst critics.

Still, I have a lot to learn and I love the creative freedom crazy quilting and embroidering gives me. Just this week I've discovered this site and others where stitchers gather. I found Stitchin Fingers on Marie Alton's blogspot. I was really clueless that these sites existed, even though I'm on the computer quite often.

By trade I am a journalist and my boyfriend and I own and operate an online newspaper. It's a fun project and we are happily watching it grow.

I have four cats to care for and a decent sized garden...picking lots of okra these days! I work full-time and am able to embroider or read during downtimes, which is great. I love reading and am making my way through Ulysses by James Joyce for the first time. Lately I've started a series of tea towels embroidered with wildflowers I copied out of a coloring book. These tea towels are slated as Christmas presents, along with some of the totes I'm putting together.

I am interested in learning more stitches, specifically I'm going to try cast on stitches and the French knot roses...so gorgeous! I just joined the Tuesday stitch group. I also find the trading post card groups fascinating and see I just missed the latest one...urgh. Hopefully there will be another!

I've been embroidering since I was 8. I've been hand sewing since I was 4. I discovered crazy quilting about 8 years ago and have picked it up now and again.

Good threads are hard to find here, so I've mostly worked with DMC cotton floss and some rayon. Now I have the pearl #5, I think it's called and I use that a lot. My favorite threads are anything variegated!!! Just got in an order of new silk ribbon, but haven't used any yet...all I had before was in pastel. And, I'm waiting on a big order of silk thread, ribbon tape, lace, lace dye, hand-dyed ribbons and other trims to arrive! Can't wait! Also, a good friend who owns a small quilt shop gave me a great deal on some Czech glass buttons. They are absolutely gorgeous and I've already added some to my tote bag in progress...see photos if interested. So, I'm beginning to put together a stash of materials.

Really enjoying meeting you all and soaking up ideas and inspiration!

Hi! I'm Marian and I live in Baton Rouge, LA and a proud member of the Who Dat Nation. I've always had a needle of some sort in my fingers, but cross stitch is my love. This is my Year of Smalls, so I'm making pinkeeps, biscornus, and ornies.

I have a stitchin' blog which also has links to some of my stitchy friends:

Hello, I thought I would join stitchin fingers as I've been trying out the stitches in TAST challenge. I have been doing embroidery for many years but tend to stick to the same old stitches so I thought this would give me some incentive to do something different. I did try out lots of different stitches when doing the City & Guilds creative embroidery course, but in the challenge there have been new stitches [to me] to try.
I have a website http://www.linsart.co.uk
and blog [mainly images of my creative/arty things] http://linsartyblobs.blogspot.com/
& a flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/39984035@N04/

As usual, I find the "Introduce yourself" after I've jumped in and commented elsewhere.

I've dabbled in various needlework projects since I was a child. I love hand work, but am so slow that I've learned to do machine embroidery and machine knitting. My passions flow from one thing to another and eventually cycle around. Currently it's been small quilted projects and I found PinTangle when I was looking for information on CQ. I guess what I'm doing is a semi CQ right now. I have the patchwork, but not much embellishment... But I am so inspired to do more, even learning lots of new stitches (and hand stitching doesn't break needles and quit!). Still, my primary focus right now is to develop the vague ideas in my head for art quilts and employ as many of the other needle/fiber arts as will work with those ideas. It's definitely a learn-as-I-go process.
Hello

I will just quickly introduce myself, my name is Jessamyn and I live in Co. Cork, Ireland, with my husband and two year old son. I have been interested in needlecraft all my life, but in the past year I have gained an interest in crazy quilts.

I own a flower shop here in Cork and enjoy the work very much. As it is so quiet these days I fill the time with embroidering. I keep a shop on Etsy to try to earn a few bob from it and clear out my backlog. I make a lot of little things that are easy to ship if I sell them, but I would like to make a full size quilt soon.

I have started a blog, http://www.homespunireland.com, if anyone is interested, I would love to follow other blogs, too.

I hope that this community carries on, so sad to have joined just as the site closes down. I am a great fan of Sharons, when I first started crazy quilting I read her whole blog, can you imagine how long that took me??

Hope to spend some time here to interact with you all:)

Jessamyn

Hi

I am Annabel Burton from Cheshire United Kingdom. I have loved needlework for years but been doing other stuff until recently, like knitting and crochet. But I have just started working with fabrics and silks to create landscape pictures . This combines my art student background with my love of colour and texture and I wonder why I haven't done it before, but a bit of digging around and I found a picture I did with my Mum's sewing machine when I was 9 years old doing exactly this! (a picture of a little girl with blond woolly hair and cross eyes!). It's really good to find this place! I have a blog called cherrytreehandmades and sell in my folksy shop too.
Hi! I am Louise in the UK. I am interested in all types of stitching and I also make bobbin lace. I am not doing much stitching at present as I have a 3 month old baby. Lots of pieces of embroidery are on hold at the moment but look forward to seeing others work as it will be good to have lots of inspiration for when I get a little bit of time to myself!
Hello - I'm Liz and live in the Uk - next stop the North Sea!!! I have been involved in all sorts of crafts since primary school. I was brought up in Paisley where the Coats and Clarks thread mills were so have not yet had to buy any embroidery or sewing thread!!! I have also just taken up bobbin lace - very early stages at the mo - and projects on hand are quilts for some orphans in Tanzania - my daughter volunteered at Forever Angels baby home in Tanzania and Open Arms in Malawi in 2008 and 2009 - she was over there for about 8 months. I printed pictures onto cotton fabric and made them into a quilt for Michael. I have another to finish for a little girl called Aika. Will post photos when it's done. Great idea this. Thank you for starting it.
