Hello,

are there people around who would like to join in a group where we try to finish our Work in slow progress, UFOs and so on ?

I just had a look in my (big) box with unfinished things and thought that it is really necessary to get some of these projects done.
The first thing I did was making a list of all those things in my box with a description of the project and the steps that are still open. Then I was thinking how to motivate myself and found that this was not so easy since there are always so many new things I would like to try. Then I thought that there must be more people like me and my next thought was "stitching fingers".

So there I am asking you if you have the same "problem" ;-) and if we want to try do solve it together in a group where it is easier to motivate each other.

Hi Ellie, Have you been reading the Cross Stitchin Fingers' Group?? We have been discussing exactly the same subject! I have just posted a message on the CSF forum, suggesting that our group go ahead with a Cross Stitch UFO challenge within the Group, but members can still join in with an overall Stitchin Fingers challenge if they wish. I'm a bit like you, except that instead of a box of UFOs and WISPs I have a cupboard full of them...which I will never finish in this lifetime, but it's fun deciding which one to work on next!
If your idea goes ahead, please include me - I really want to finish an embroidered supper cloth that my MIL started 70 years ago and would like to see completed before she passes on (she is 95 by the way, so I'd better get a wriggle on, lol)
Just wondering, but could this be included in our stash bustin' group? We would love to have more members and this would certainly fit in.
Count me in!!!!! After last week end at the Quilt &Craft show I have already started on a stash for at least the life after next... There are two??? cross stitch kits and a BOM quilt I would love to 'leave behind' so to speak - so this group and G's cross stitch one would be wonderful to have something accountable to... A work in progress - even if that means opening the packet and threading the needle!!!!! :) :)
Hi Elli, I have the exact same problem. I cleaned out my studio recently and found at least 12 ufos that just needed to be bound or mounted in some way... Sad.

Not sure about how to motivate each other but I am game for a try.

Sounds like a good idea, since apart from my cross stitch UFOs I have quilting and knitting UFOs...
That sounds a brilliant idea. How will it work?
Ah Haaaa ... nods to self .... I wondered when someone was going to propose this idea - count me in if you start a group as I have a few things that are a little slow in getting done ...
Hi Everybody,

it seems there are people like me, with UFOs, WISP on around ;-)))

I thought about it a bit and have a suggestion how this could work and want to know what you think about it.

Everyone could make a list with projects to finish and add the following things
- project name
- steps that are still open
- priority of the project (so you will find out where to start ;-))
- leave a space for accomplished steps (so after a while you can see what you have already done)

I like this "list thing" since it gives you an overview what is still to be finished and maybe you will find out that there are some projects that are almost done already :-) I try to start with these things so I can put a check mark on my list and I hope to get motivated from that.

Try to find out which step / steps you could accomplish in maybe 2 week (or what ever time we agree on) and let us know. This would add a little pressure so we really DO something, but it should still be OK if it doesn't work sometimes since we all know that life gets in the way sometimes :-(

After that time we could tell the group what we did accomplish and maybe publish a picture.

This is what I came up with and I would like to know what you think about it and if you have other ideas how we could handle this.

I think we should have fun while we work on our UFOs and so on but for some people (like me) there has to be a little pressure so these old things, that are not sooooo interesting anymore will be finished.
Sounds great, Ellie! Will you start a new Group specifically for this?
yes I would like to join too,
I have too many ideas, which never turn to a project, because Iam always working on some previous ideas.
I need to organise my ideas first, how?
The needlepoint group has a WIP subgroup too. Basically, when you upload a pic to flickr, you give it a WIP tag. A separate WIP group is not a bad idea though.
I think an separate group would be nice. We do need a name for it. I am not very creative today. The only thing I can think of is

Finishing UFOs WISP and so on

Can you help with a better name ??
