It's great to see people joining here. I hope we can shape a community site that is of use to everyone. So I am throwing out questions and ideas in the hope that people will say how they would like to see the place shaped as this is a community site!

What would you like to see here? Do people want activities - discussions - etc Do we need activities - discussions etc to be suggested/ lead by somone etc
Swaps? Highlighting eyecandy? links?

Also should we just let anyone join - i am tempted to click "the approve before joining button" as I don't want spammers or people who are not textile folks spoiling the place I will if it happens but how do others feel?

I have put up a notes area so we can share skills /tips as we learn to use this place .

It occurred to me that we might want a tips advice area. Any ideas? should it be a thread int he forum? What do you think?

I would hit the approve button sharon - then there is less chance we will have the hassle of spammers etc - another site I belong has had to have 'watch dogs' to keep an eye out for some less than attractive admirers - we were horrified that someone/thing also tried to open a porn thread in between embroidery and quilting threads hoping that no one would notice I guess until it was too late... Perhaps too that people already involved in stitchin fingers could "approve" friends if that would lessen the load for you...
Oh yes I now approve every member - it is why I hav et re what sort of textiles are you interested in as spamers can not answer that with a real feel if youknow what I mean
I'm passionate about Bargello. I've been stitching Bargello patterns for almoat 40 years and I never get tired of doing them.

But Bargello today is more than just needlepoint. There are people making Bargello quilts, beadwork in Bargello patterns, and so much more.

I'd like to start a group on Stitchin Fingers for people who love Bargello, no matter what you medium might be. There we can share our projects, take part in Bargello challenges (someone makes a pattern and we all interpret it in our own colors and style), and talk about color schemes, books, and other resources we find.

I'm also thinking that if you want to learn Bargello, you can come here to find someone to teach and mentor you.

Any takers?
Keep Stitching,
Janet
Janet I bumped this to a separate topic in the forum because I thought members might miss it. I hope you dont mind. I just don't like to see god ideas get buried because people have not found their way around an interface!
the topic is called interested in bargello?
I have asked people to respond there but its a good idea to leep an eye on what is happening here too
I'm looking for a place to donate my late mother's scrapbook of Bargello work. She won national awards for her needlework a long time ago. I gave away the large wall hanging years ago, but still have all the samples she made for the scrapbook. There are many patterns in it.
I live in Florida. If you'd like to be the one I donate this book to, please e-mail me at

Hi Sharon,
A tips advice area would be great. Maybe firstly you could give some advice on how to get the hyperlink to work, I've tried but can't seem to get it right

Peta you are leaving spaces in your link

So
http://stitch1peta. blogspot. com/

becomes
http://stitch1peta.blogspot.com/
and
http://www.flickr. com/photos/ stitch1peta/
becomes

http://www.flickr.com/photos/stitch1peta/
Hi Sharon,
something is still going wrong, I do the hyperlink and get this message

a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/stitch1peta/">
Then when I load the message it disappears. It only seems to happen with my addresses as I have loaded someone elses and that worked
Peta
You are just seeing the html - ie the code that makes th elink work - everyone sees it - so its all OK
you need the html so leave it in
Hi Sharon,
OK I think I get it now. I am not hugely computer literate.

I am new to this forum, and SO excited to see what everyone is doing. I would love to join the crazy quilting group, but don't see exactly how to do that. Does it matter that I'm a rank beginner? (Only new to crazy quilting; I'm actually quite accomplished in other areas!) I love the idea of swaps; I've seen what some of the bloggers have been doing, and it's amazing. I want to be part of this! Thank you so much for accepting me into Stitchin fingers!
