I have activated "Allow members to create groups" so that people can create their own groups. It's quite easy you just go to "Groups" tab and then click "Create a group" you need a small photo to hand for the group (I used a photo 300 pixels wide and 72 ppi) otherwise the group won't be created
Groups are a little bit like categories so feel free to start them I do suggest however that people who want to start a group discuss it with the community first to see if their is any interest. There is nothing sadder than a group of one person. One thing I have learnt through running challenges etc is that you have to have the numbers as group has to have community support to maintain itself so ask and see if there are takers.
People who create groups are the moderators - if there is really any big issues like a member being really nasty contact me.
Candi do you want to start a beading or fabric postcard one - if others are interested? Or should I go ahead and start these - Iwould need some moderators tho
I would like to see a group of people who can figure out what to do with textile scraps left over from projects. It just seems to me, that with all the creative minds out there in this site, there should be all sorts of wonderful ideas to pass on. I think it is a waste to just put those scraps into the same old things like dogs toys and flowers. Grouping together and brain-storming off of each others ideas should allow us to come up with some really different designs. We might call it "freeforming leftovers." Even have some contest to see who can make their "scraps" into the most creative items.
Janet I think this is a great idea - we could post links share ideas as there is always scraps that are too useful to throw away!
Is there any one else that likes this idea?
I don't think I know how. I am very new to even using a PC and still fumble around to finding where every thing is. I am having some trouble finding my way around you web site so don't think I am the person to start one. I am still trying to figure out how to get my page set up right. I like to never got my picture up and running.
I sure would surport one if someone else wants to start it.
Janet,
That is a wonderful idea ! My house is being over run with all of my scraps as I can't bear to throw anything away because I know that if I do I'll end up needing it LOL :) I have a ton of cotton and fancy fabric scrap in all diffrent sizes, the only thing I have been able to come up with is pincushions . I would love to see how others use thier scraps.
Amy
Fabric postcards are 4"x6" pieces of fiber art. They can be made with many types of techniques but need to be relatively flat. You mail them to other people either in an envelope or "naked" and most people swap them with other people. If you google on Art2Mail you will see one exchange board for postcard swaps.
